Yesterday I arrived in Almeria. Nice town. I visited the Alcazaba, a beautiful remnant of the muslim ages. One of my main goals of this trip was to visit Plataforma Solar de Almeria. So I hadto find put how.
Tourist information was very helpful and made the reservation, especially because the bus schedule did not synchronize with visiting hours.
I went there by bus with my bike as luggage, inorder to go down again on my bike.
It was very interesting. The solare energy plant is a research and demonstartion plant of the EU, with extra interest of the Germans. Focus is on concentrated solar power.There are several types of systems. 2 power towers with heliostates. Several parabol and semi parabol (through) mirrors. Electricity producing, desalinization, testing materials in very hot situations (2000-3000 C).
I liked it very much.
After the visit I went back, by Tabernas. This is a town where a lot of movies have been made (Sergio Leone, lucky Luke etc.) the landscape is marvellous. When I wanted to visit one of the movie sites i was rejected by the impression that it would be like Warner Bross movie world, and that for € 20,-.
So I rode down the mountain.
But it was a beautiful visit. I liked it.
Now the days of the Sierra de Segura come nearer. The mountains that rejected me at the other side (near Hornos). But then my freewheel was broken.
So at last the hour of the truth will come. What shall I do????
The coming 4-5 days will be the proof of the pudding.
